Butterfly Art Project (BAP) in association with Fondazione Labia (FL), has launched its new Community Art Facilitators headquarters at Casa Labia; in their beautiful, sea-viewed, garden studio.

The Butterfly Art Project is a Non-Profit Public Benefit Organisation that encourages healing and creativity through the arts for children in disadvantaged, under-resourced communities. BAP uses the visual arts as a means for healing at an individual level as well as integrating art therapeutic principles into educational institutions.

Fondazione Labia, the non-profit charitable arm of Casa Labia Cultural Centre and the Labia Family, aims to support the advancement of Arts and Culture in South Africa; in particular to communities which are underserved. In addition to pledging space to BAP at Casa Labia           on a pro bono basis, FL is also pledging a regular monthly grant to cover BAP’s expenses and salaries. The funding is generated from the Events Business which is run at Casa Labia Cultural Centre.

The Community Art Facilitator’s Workshop that is being launched at Casa Labia, is the programme through which participants are trained to implement healing art classes in disadvantaged communities.

This training programme empowers adults to run healing art classes in up to 43 different communities across the Western Cape. Each of these adults, known as Community Art Facilitators, conduct classes with children from disadvantaged communities aged between 6 – 18 years old. BAP provides ongoing mentorship and support to the community art facilitators through their programmes and art classes which are now held at casa Labia.

The Butterfly Art Project will also be hosting its 2019 Annual Exhibition in the Casa Labia Gallery in October.  “We are excited to be hosting the first of what I am sure will be an annual event for our calendar” says Casa Labia’s Managing Director, Antonia Labia. “Joining forces with BAP is the perfect fit for us, as we seek to broaden the impact of Fondazione Labia across the Western Cape and seek to make Casa Labia and Fondazione Labia increasingly more relevant and impactful”, Antonia adds.

Casa Labia will open from Monday to Saturday from 09h00 – 16h00 in order for the public to be able to view the creative exhibition in the month of August. For more information please contact:
