Sydney Carter
Born 1874 died 21 December 1945 was born in England and died in Harrismith (then Orange) Free State. He was known for his portraits and landscapes. In 1924 he was elected to the Cape Town Society of artists. In 1927 he began teaching at the Witwatersrand Technical College. He also illustrated various editions of the works of Charles Dickens, Charlotte Bronte, Jane Austen.

Born on 6 December 1972 in Holland died 29 September 1999. He was a popular artist singing works of opera as well as other light music.
Lawrence Folley
Born in Benoni on 6 December 1928 d 14 January 2007 He was baritone who appeared in operas: Rigoletto, Don Giovanni, Tosca as well as in operettas, musicals and on concert platforms.
