JULY EDITORIAL and those Winter Blues Amy Gould

With the rain belting down and freezing weather it is sometimes difficult not to be a bit pessimistic.  Add our sinking economy and rising cost of everything and all you need is a few minor setbacks and you could be heading for a seriously  `poor me’ melt down.  Until you have a wonderful hot meal followed by a hot, hot bath and you realize just how lucky you are – so many have neither.

Then again if you are one of the lucky ones and have a beautiful home in an expansive garden just walking around taking photos of what is in flower even in this weather and you realize if nature can do it you can too.Bloom in the freezing cold and rain that is!

Receiving a photo like the one on the left, taken by our musical composer Gordon Mackay on a recent visit to New York added the necessary laughter which helped banish the `poor me’ syndome. The photo was taken in China town in San Francisco.  Again it got me thinking and I hope everyone will enjoy it and take as much inspiration from this as I did.

Who has seen the incredible Gene Kelly performing the routine in the film `Singing in the rain  where he sings, `I’m singing and dancing in the rain?’  What an incredible dancer, singer, performer and film maker.
