Acclaimed artist, Elsa Stadler, to host first solo exhibition
Set for October 2018, abstract painter, Elsa Stadler has announced her first solo exhibition to take place in Johannesburg.
The exhibition will celebrate ‘energy’ in its base form, inspired by Stadler’s studies into the Particle Wave Conundrum and the recognition of the sub-atomic energy around us.
“Unseen by the naked eye, energy underlies everything we do, or see, or touch. Present at birth, it is in every breath we take, every thought we think, every inspiration we have, every emotion we feel. Unaware that it is there, we constantly use it, often waste it and always seem to need more of it,” Stadler explains.
Stadler’s training as an artist began while living in the United Stated between 1984 and 1989, where she trained as a watercolourist. In addition, Stadler attended courses in various aspects of art at North-West University and the Art Institute of Chicago.
“After an extended break from art towards the end of the millennium during which I worked in the media industry for 14 years, I came back to my ‘first love’ in 2013, moving to acrylics as well as various mixed media applications and techniques. In this new phase of my career, I strive for honest self-expression, to constantly raise my awareness, and expand my boundaries,” furthers Stadler.
A portion of the proceeds from Stadler’s exhibition will be donated to the REEA (Rand Epileptic Employment Association) Foundation, a non-profit organisation caring for adults living with epilepsy and mild mental disorders who cannot be accommodated in a normal family environment.
The Elsa Stadler Solo Exhibition will be hosted at Co2Lab Creative Space at REEA in Craighall Park, the solo exhibition will be held from 11 to 21 October 2018. The exhibition launch will take place on 11 October at 18:00 and is open to the public.
