Cape Town Marimba Festival

CELEBRATING 10 YEARS AT BAXTER CONCERT HALL

FRIDAY  26 APRIL 2019   @  19h30

The Cape Town Marimba Festival is a joint venture between the Cape Town Big Band Jazz Festival and Woodworx Marimbas.

Woodworx Marimbas is an African Marimba Company, specialising in teaching students to perform on the African Marimba, performing as a professional marimba band and manufacturing instruments and mallets.

Through marimba tuition and performing we can make a difference in the lives of both children and adults alike, giving them an energetic and vibrant African Music experience to remind them about one of the many wonderful things our country and heritage has to offer. We also support outreach bands and projects which take children from townships and under-privileged communities by providing them with a creative outlet in which to develop and have fun whilst doing so. Hence our slogan “Play it Forward” was born.

This year the following marimba bands will be performing:

Edgemead High,  Micklefield, Edgemead Primary, Herschel High, Forres, Rustenburg Girls High, Pinelands High, Ned Doman(Featured Photo), Mountview High, Manenberg Secondary, Seamount Primary, amaWolseley, Music Works, AISCT, Reddam House Constantia, Parklands College, St Joseph’s Marist College, Groote Schuur High, Handevat Marimba Band

The highlight of the marimba festival is the mass marimba at the end of the evening.

Tickets prices:  R140 Adults.   R80 for Seniors, Scholars and Students.  Tickets available from  WebTickets  or Baxter booking office, 021 685 7880.
