What’s that word again? Dr Dawn Gould

How often when talking, does one suddenly and momentarily, forget a specific word to use in whatever is being discussed?  Then to keep talking one will use any of the following to continue speaking.   For example:

doodah – a trinket  – Is that not a pretty doodah.

bamboozle – to deceive (1700) – I was bamboozled out of some money.

fiddlesticks – nonsense = You are talking fiddlesticks.

flabbergast –to astonish (1772) I was flabbergasted at the way she addressed her best friend.

whatsit -. used when a person’s name has been forgotten   Who is that?

thingamajig – I just cannot remember his/her name or what is that object.n
