The Rhinos are Coming!!! is a three month spectacular outdoor art exhibition coming to Cape Town from  mid-December 2018 to mid-March 2019. It will feature 60 or more imaginatively painted rhino sculptures which will be exhibited on street corners, parks and public spaces all around the city and surrounds.

The auctions of the exhibits will raise funds and spread awareness for the plight of our endangered rhino population and our recipient of funds raised at the auctions – StopRhinoPoaching.com .

The first stage of the initiative was achieved in 2017 with the raising of more than R350, 000 to fabricate nine

fibreglass Rhinos and to have nine artists, both famous and emerging, to bring them to life.

Pioneer sponsors, who last year enabled the project to acquire its first crash of nine Rhinos, include The

Belmond Mount Nelson , The One & Only Hotel , Rhino Disharmony , Radisson Hotel Group , Pamela Isdell ,

Timeless Africa Safaris,Welgevonden , African Secrets , Alphen Boutique Hotel , Pick & Pay and others.

Since then the first nine Rhino Ambassadors have been wowing the crowds in a series of appearances at

high profile events and exhibit spaces, at the Stadium, the V&A Waterfront, Cape Town International Airport,  Spier Wine Estate, and CTICC.

They were transported to their destinations on a flatbed truck provided by partner Stuttaford Van Lines .

They flirted with the paparazzi, played their favourite music, interviewed celebrities and tasted wine at a famous wine estate.

The Grand Rhino Launch Tour, while publicizing The Rhinos are Coming!!! initiative, inspired more businesses

and individuals to sponsor the making and painting of more rhinos all which will form the basis of The Rhinos

Are Coming!!! Exhibition starting December 2018.

Ashby says, “We have challenges ahead to reach our goal to sign another sixty or so businesses to sponsor

sixty or so more Rhinos. But we are confident South African businesses will see the many benefits offered for

building their brands by supporting this exciting and worthy cause which is close the hearts of all who love

our South African wildlife and want to see it preserved”.

An exciting Calendar Of Events is building for the first half of 2018.

Rhinos will be sallying forth from their home at the V&A Waterfront to attend and spread awareness at:

Design Indaba at Artscape starting 21 st February 2018 – Meerendal Wine Estate from the 27 th February, Cape

Town Carnival (Rhino Float) 17th March 2018, World Travel Market CTICC 18th April 2018.

The Rhinos are Coming!!! Exhibition starting Mid Dec 2018 will promote Cape Town as a top tourist

destination and an international centre for the arts. It will offer local artists the opportunity to showcase their

work to an audience of hundreds of thousands while joining with the general public to fight the war on

poaching and to save our rhinos.
