Bat-Eared Fox Family

“In the Kgalagadi, you often see these charismatic little foxes trotting along the riverbed, backs arched, dish-shaped ears pivoted forward. The sun will soon rise over the red dunes flanking the banks of the Auob. As dawn approaches, the female fox rises, stretches and shakes the dust from her coat. The fox approaches the entrance of an old aardvark burrow and calls softly. Minutes pass…then magically two pups emerge. When the female’s finished nursing, the male attends to grooming each pup thoroughly and keeping a watchful eye. This is undoubtedly the highlight of our past two months in the Kgalagadi and a delight to draw every day at the easel!” – Angela Key

Cobus van der Walt

Cobus van der Walt

Cobus van der Walt

Cobus van der Walt grew up in Stellenbosch near Cape Town. In pursuit of developing his interest in art, he completed a BA degree in Fine Arts at the University of Pretoria in 1991. He spent much time in the Southern African bush during his formative years, a source of inspiration for many of his works, and still travels extensively throughout the subcontinent.

Van der Walt applies contemporary methods to traditional themes. Bulky, unframed canvases capture the vibrance of the African veld. It is a landscape characterised by motion, evoking the immediacy of the artist’s experience and the magnitude of the African plains. Although Van der Walt rarely exhibits, some of South Africa’s exclusive private and corporate collectors have acquired of his works.

Chris Bladen – Sculptor

Christopher Bladen is widely recognised as one of the world’s best wild fish sculptors. This South African artist strives to capture the essence of each species, the nuances of their movement and subtleties of their outline, bringing them to life in bronze.

Through his extensive travels and encounters with fish, Bladen has honed his eye for detail. With its crystal clear waters and abundance of marine life, the Seychelles is one of his favourite destinations.

Peter Gray

Born in Zimbabwe 1950, Peter Gray studied and graduated from the University of Cape Town’s Michaelis School of Fine Art. He established a successful studio and workshop in Kent, England, developing a good rapport with his local and international clients. In 1983 Peter Gray chose to relocate back to Zimbabwe where he opened up a large workshop and foundry producing bronze and silver sculpture, which he sold with his paintings. He has since relocated once more to South Africa, where he continues a successful career as an artist.

“The connection between wildlife and its management is intimated in the play on the word ‘game’. My work as an artist focuses on this, allowing the possibility for the viewer to make contact and become involved.” – Peter Gray
