APRIL EDITORIAL

Thank you to all those who send us interesting articles and well written press releases I do appreciate receiving them even if I am not able or choose not to publish some of them. Please remember that a press release is about news and information and not only to achieve ticket sales for a forthcoming event.  And please everyone, more than one adjective per sentence is really overkill and only Horn players should be blowing their own horn.

We do not guarantee that any article submitted will be published. We can and do sell advertising space so consider this option. We are prepared to negotiate a fee for worthwhile causes.

Last month I wrote about the different forms of entreprenership and in view of a burglary that took place at my business premises recently I started to think about the crimes that are being committed having a similar survivalist starting point. I am not condoning crime and specifically burglary with the intent to steal and cause as much damage as is necessary to gain access to the chosen premises.  But is this, in many cases, not brought about through desperation rather than out and out stealing for financial gain?  Very little work for those with an education, and much less for those with very little education and no resources, does not give people too many options to survive.

In this case looking at what was stolen which will probably not relate to big money on the street and has little real value to anyone but us could be such a case.  The damage caused, which I will have to pay for, and the time having to be spent getting everything repaired, replaced and re-organized is very time consuming.  But………… think of all the people who will benefit. The businesses I will purchase replacement products from, the repair people and then the criminals themselves and the people they sell my previously owned products to at a discounted price.

So in the grand scheme of life I should be thinking of all the people who will benefit from my burglary and not what my loss is.  But dropping a lit cigarette in the middle of highly inflammable products is unforgivable and cudles my milk of human kindness.  Fortunately the cigarette went out before anything caught fire.  And it was only a quarter smoked.  This is such a waste and speaking of which where did you get money to buy cigarettes?  Or was that stolen too?

I hope everyone reading this has a burglary free year ahead and that we can all create more work for everyone around us as I am sure this will cut the survival theft.  But it would be even better if people at the top of the tree were to change their grand scale of thieving so that we can have more money available to spend on worthwhile projects which might develop work opportunities for more people.  Well I can dream, can’t I?
