NEVILLE EDWARD ALEXANDER
Born 22 October 1936 in Cradock d 27 August 2012. In 1953 studied at the University of Cape Town. In 1961 completed an MA degree and went on to study further at the University of Tubingen where he completed his PhD degree. In 1963 he was arrested and convicted of conspiracy to commit sabotage and was sent to Robben Island where he spent ten years. He was a strong believer in multilingualism and in 2008 received the Linguapax Prize “in recognition for his contribution to linguistic diversity and multilingual education.”
